/Re-reading and drawing The Lord of the Rings/
Old drawings
This is the oldest LOTR drawing I can find atm, from 2018- ‘The Bridge of Khazad Dum’. I’ve just received the package with my first set of Copic markers, (set of grays that I will color digitally, that was the idea) and had to test them right away! And so I did this Gandalf meeting Balrog work in one of my sketchbooks.
It could have been a nice drawing on a sheet of paper, without this binding in the middle. I’m looking forward to doing new version of this scene.
This is Gandalf the way I see him. More like some old skinny metalhead badass, less like hermit or priest. A bit different flavour than what I usually see. He should have his cloak, hat and backpack or a bag in this scene thou. Balrog is bit clunky and not so well composed, like, the whip melts into sword…
Copics are fantastic tool! If you draw, you should check them out, they’re transparent refillable markers that blend nicely.
What else did I find is this bunch of nazgul that I did trying to produce something decent for a collector (Thank you, Reba!):
This depiction of Frodo and Sam leaving the Shire also has a rider 🙂 looking for them.
And here is an old wanderer to wish you a Good day…
