Stipan Morian

Stipan Morian lived in few countries and cities before he left his home in 1988, 15 years old. His first job was to coach the kids how (not) to fight. Coaching wasn’t enough, had to do odd jobs and finished technical school with much difficulty, but having a lot of fun in vital and vibrant community that was Sarajevo before the war broke out. After a couple of months of war, Stipan took his brothers and mother to Zagreb, capital of Croatia. His next job was leading the animation workshop at the Vodnikova domačija community centre in nearby Ljubljana, Slovenia, where he would travel every weekend to work with refugees from Bosnia. He participated in punks overtaking the Yugoslav army headquarters and turning it into Metelkova City Autonomous Cultural Centre in the very first days, with his little exposition of underground comics. In 1993, he got accepted into the Academy of Fine Arts Zagreb. In 1994. Stipan went to Bruxelles, Belgium to learn about animation films from his friends at Atelier Graphoui.  For the next 20+ years he was making animation films, draw and paint, do theatre scenography and restore renaissance stone buildings with his stonemason brothers.

Stipan is a co-creator and artist of 20thCENTURY MEN from Image Comics with Deniz Camp. Lives in Croatia with his family. When possible, leaves the capital and lurks on the island. Has 2 beautiful sons.
